Shelly is a very special girl.  She had clearly a very troubled past, suspected abuse history and was extremely “shut down”.  Shelter staff and volunteers could barely interact with her for a long period of time but thankfully, she was kept alive for some “chance” that might come along.  After being alerted of her story, Voices Out committed to try and help her.  With the constant support of loving volunteers at the shelter, they initially showed her what trust could be. After more than 2 years at the shelter, the day arrived she was able to leave the shelter and after about an hour, walked herself up the stairs and into the back of the truck to ride to freedom.  Everything in Shelly’s life has changed.  She is discovering what structured walks are, toys, even laying around by the pool.  Our trainer has given Shelly a chance to build confidence while learning the love of humans.  Soon she will be going to her home that is out there waiting just for her! Shelly has made wonderful strides and is loving her life working with her trainer steadily and continues to both learn and teach other dogs!
